From Rehearsal Room Chaos to the FEATS Stage: Act Attack The Hague's with "An Evening in the Theater"

Some rehearsals feel like magic from day one. Others feel like chaos on top of chaos and somehow, that's exactly where the magic was hiding.

We're thrilled to share that "An Evening in the Theater," an absurdist comedy play created by our students at Act Attack The Hague, was selected to perform at FEATS, the Amateur Theater Festival for English-speaking theater groups.

For a group that started as 12 students figuring out comedy together, this is a milestone worth celebrating.

The Play: Theater About Theater

Written and directed by our teacher Inés Dominguez del Corral, "An Evening in the Theater" is a play within a play.

It follows a group of actors: some deeply serious, some decidedly not as they rehearse a set of classical plays for a community theater production.

Their director, Tim Warhausen, spends the entire show trying (valiantly, and often unsuccessfully) to keep things professional.

The result is a beautifully disastrous rehearsal process, packed with sharp character work, comic timing, and the kind of tension that only comedy can turn into pure delight.

Twelve Students, One Unforgettable Process

Twelve students brought this play to life, and if you ask anyone who was in the room during rehearsals, they'll tell you the same thing: everyone was crying from laughter, every single time.

That kind of joy doesn't just make for a fun process, it makes for a tight-knit cast. The group became close friends along the way, and that chemistry is exactly what audiences felt watching them perform.

"Were These Actors Really Amateurs?"

The response from FEATS audiences said it all. One attendee described making a spontaneous trip to The Hague to catch the show, and left completely won over:

It was mind blowing, it was theater within a theater, stellar performances within top notch performances! The ideation, the humour, the tension, the distinctness of each character was so well sketched out! I was so mesmerised I actually forgot to take pictures!
